Google Impact Challenge
Dear All,
I know many of you are aware of the ground-breaking TEXT-ME study which was published last year, led by Clara Chow. The researchers have now made the finals of the Google Impact Challenge – the only cardiac focused project to feature in there. Please see below for more info and links to voting.
‘An SMS has the power to save millions of lives. The George Institute for Global Health is ready to roll out a program we know will prevent stroke and heart attack and transform the lives of people with diabetes and asthma around the world, just via a simple text. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The George Institute has been named a top 10 finalist in this year’s Google Impact Challenge. Top prize is $750,000: funds we will invest in a text messaging program to tackle chronic disease on a global scale. So please take just a few seconds to help us win by CLICKING here.
Our trials have already shown this technology works. People who received these personalised texts are more likely to take their medications correctly, stop smoking and start exercising, placing them at much lower risk of suffering another heart attack or stroke.
It’s a seemingly simple solution but based on complex algorithms and years of research and supported by Bupa and The Heart Foundation. With your help this cost-saving program could be up and running in India, China and Australia within 18 months so please VOTE FOR US today and ask your colleagues to do the same. Thank you.’
Kind regards,
Lis
